Blind is beautiful | A sweet dog photography session in Calgary

Meet handsome and adoptable Jax whose photo session was so much fun, thanks to his beautiful doggy disposition and his equally fantastic fosters. He is a lovely example of how dogs can live in the moment regardless of their challenges. Jax had to have both his eyes removed, but despite his recent blindness, he has a great zest for life, a heart of gold, and the nose of a bloodhound (he knew there were treats in my camera bag the moment he met me!).

I particularly have a soft spot for this sweet guy, because the first dog I ever had, Joey, ended up going blind at around the age of 7 and he absolutely amazed me with how he took it all in stride. He lived to be 15 and I actually often forget that he was blind for half his life because he still enjoyed it to the fullest. And I know Jax will as well.

This beautiful dog can be adopted through Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation.

Note: Jax was always on leash during his session (as are most of the adoptable dogs I photograph; leashes are edited out in the post processing).

PS – shortly after Jax’s photographs from his session were posted, he found his forever family! I was happy to hear that the person who adopted him, said that his photos struck a chord and led her to him all the way from Edmonton. It makes me happy that my session with Jax played a small part in him finding a loving family! I hope you have the very best life, Jax! You deserve it. xox
